General Motors has initiated a recall for 67,380 electric vehicles due to a software defect in the brake system control module. The glitch can cause a temporary loss of braking power when drivers lightly tap the brakes during a sharp turn while hitting a bump, leading the system to misinterpret wheel movement.
The recall impacts specific all-wheel-drive models, including the Cadillac Lyriq, Celestiq, and Vistiq, as well as the Chevrolet Blazer EV. GM identified 24 field complaints between February 24, 2024, and June 11, 2026, which resulted in 20 minor accidents and two reports of minor injuries.
The company plans to resolve the issue by updating the brake system control module software. This fix will be provided to owners free of charge via an over-the-air update or through dealership service centers. Notification letters to vehicle owners are scheduled to be mailed on December 14, 2026.
