Former US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, now CEO of RAISE US, stated that international cooperation is essential to manage the security and economic risks of artificial intelligence. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum on October 13, 2026, she argued that national isolationism is ineffective for addressing challenges like model vulnerabilities and autonomous systems.

Raimondo highlighted the partnership between the US and India in AI and semiconductors as a model for cooperative governance. This approach aligns with her proposal for a two-track strategy toward China, which balances competition with collaboration on shared risks. She previously served as Commerce Secretary from 2021 to 2025, overseeing the creation of the US AI Safety Institute and the implementation of the CHIPS Act.

Her organization, RAISE US, has secured $500 million from major technology firms, including Anthropic, OpenAI, Amazon, and Microsoft. These funds are designated for workforce retraining programs across the United States. The commitment reflects a broader industry effort to address the economic disruption caused by rapid technological advancement.
