The Russian private company Geoscan plans to launch its first light orbital launch vehicle in 2031. The two-stage rocket will feature liquid oxygen-kerosene engines and is designed to carry a payload of up to 900 kg into orbit. Chief designer Pavel Pushkin announced the timeline during the 'Opening Space' conference.
The company is currently defining the project concept and technical requirements. Design work is scheduled for 2027–2028, with ground fire tests of major components expected between 2028 and 2029. Geoscan is also building the necessary infrastructure, including launch systems, telemetry, and production facilities, while collaborating with industrial partners.
The rocket will have a launch mass of 55 tons, a diameter of 2 meters, and a length of 25.9 meters. The propulsion system will utilize a pump-fed fuel cycle without gas generator combustion. The development process focuses on integrating flight performance with production and operational requirements.
