Geely has officially launched the local production of its EX5 EM-i hybrid SUV at the Ayrton Senna Industrial Complex in Brazil. This facility was recently upgraded to support the company's Global Intelligent Electric Architecture, which allows for the manufacturing of various powertrain types, including internal combustion engines, flex-fuel hybrids, and fully electric systems.
The EX5 EM-i is expected to enter the Brazilian market before the end of 2026. Additionally, the company plans to start manufacturing the EX2 electric hatchback at the same plant in December 2026. This move follows a cooperation agreement signed in November 2025, through which Geely acquired a 26.4 percent stake in Renault do Brasil while Renault maintained control of the entity.
The partnership provides Geely with access to Renault's local industrial and commercial infrastructure. In return, Renault gains the ability to utilize Geely's GEA platform to broaden its portfolio of low- and zero-emission vehicles. This collaboration is a key component of Geely's strategy to strengthen its presence in Latin America.
Geely's international sales performance remains strong, with 110 094 vehicles sold overseas in August, representing a 205.16 percent year-on-year increase. For the first eight months of the year, the company reported 690 985 units sold abroad, marking a 170.48 percent growth compared to the same period in the previous year.
