In August 2026, the Chinese automotive market saw Toyota Corolla Cross lead the gasoline SUV segment with 14,675 units sold. Geely Boyue L, known as Atlas L, followed in second place with 14,302 vehicles. Toyota RAV4 secured the third position, reaching 14,062 sales, supported by significant discounts offered to consumers.
The ranking continues with Geely Xingyue L, or Monjaro, which recorded 13,287 sales. Volkswagen models Tayron and Tharu L took fifth and sixth places with 11,825 and 11,748 units respectively. Geely Cityray, also known as Binyue, ranked seventh with 10,197 vehicles, marking the final model to surpass the 10,000-unit threshold for the month.
The top ten list is completed by Toyota Frontlander with 9,848 units, Honda CR-V with 8,953 units, and Chery Tiggo 8 with 8,739 units. These ten models are produced by only four brands. Despite the high sales volume of these gasoline-powered SUVs, the overall market trend in China indicates a shift toward electric and hybrid vehicles, leading to a gradual decline in the traditional gasoline segment.
