Gamers are increasingly using Claude AI agents to create complex video game mods that merge disparate titles. This process, known as vibe coding, involves users providing instructions to the AI, which then handles the programming. According to a GitHub guide, creating a functional mashup, such as combining Elden Ring and Spider-Man, can take approximately three to four hours.
The technical implementation relies on a passthrough mod that runs two games simultaneously. One game hosts the environment, while the other provides gameplay mechanics like combat and movement. These mods allow for cross-game interactions, such as using Minecraft weapons and items within Elden Ring, or integrating Call of Duty weaponry into Minecraft environments.
Specific examples include driving Mario Kart vehicles in Call of Duty: World at War Zombies and playing as Spider-Man in the Gotham City environment from the Batman series. Another project successfully integrated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 weapons into Minecraft, enabling players to execute complex maneuvers like achieving a 25-kill streak with a sniper rifle.
Despite the viral popularity of these projects, public availability remains limited. Developer Toby Jacobs, who created a mod merging Minecraft with Elden Ring, has not yet released his work to the public. He noted that the project was developed for Mac and would require a Windows port before a wider release could be considered.
