GAC Honda deputy general manager Lin Zhibin recently addressed vehicle braking safety by detailing the structural integrity of the Accord brake pedal. According to the company, the component is capable of withstanding pressures exceeding 3000N without fracturing or losing its structural form. The manufacturer emphasizes that this figure is derived from physical stress testing rather than theoretical calculations.
The company also highlighted the durability of the sixth-generation Accord model. In January, GAC Honda reported that a sixth-generation vehicle successfully completed a 24-hour endurance test covering one million kilometers. The car used for the trial was a standard vehicle from a private owner, which underwent only routine maintenance and replacement of wear-and-tear parts without any structural modifications.
The sixth-generation Accord, designated as the CG model, was originally launched by Honda in August 1997. GAC Honda introduced the vehicle to the domestic market in 1999. The car was equipped with a 2.3L VTEC engine, a five-link double-wishbone independent rear suspension, and a program-controlled fuel injection system.
