The French Finance Committee has officially approved new tax measures targeting the digital asset sector as part of the 2027 budget proposal. These amendments introduce specific levies on stablecoin transactions and establish an exit tax for individuals relocating from France with significant crypto holdings.
Under the proposed regulations, conversions between cryptocurrencies and fiat-backed stablecoins will become subject to taxation. Furthermore, the exit tax will specifically apply to taxpayers who depart the country while holding crypto assets valued in excess of €800 000.
Although the Finance Committee has cleared these proposals, they have not yet been signed into law. The legislative process remains ongoing, and market participants are currently observing the next steps to determine the final impact of these fiscal policies on the broader digital asset landscape.
