Fortinet has launched the FortiGuard Inline AI Security Service, integrating AI security capabilities directly into its existing FortiGate firewalls. This cloud-delivered service allows customers to inspect prompts sent to large language models and agents in real time without deploying additional infrastructure.
The updated FortiAIGate gateway now inspects text, images, video, and code. Its enhanced data loss prevention engine identifies 35 types of sensitive information and masks data during transit. The system also enables administrators to set spending caps per user or team to manage compute costs effectively.
For organizations with strict privacy needs, FortiAIGate can be deployed on-premises or in private clouds using Kubernetes and Nvidia GPUs. This ensures that all logs and prompts remain within the customer's internal environment.
The platform includes over 50 built-in compliance policies that can be activated with a single click. Every interaction, including tool calls and outputs, is logged for auditing purposes, and agents are mapped to their specific connections across the business.
The current capabilities incorporate technology from Virtue AI Inc., a startup acquired by Fortinet in August. This integration aims to address security gaps in traditional tools that fail to identify malicious instructions hidden within AI prompts.
