Formlabs has introduced the Form Studio 1, an entry-level 3D printer designed for individual enthusiasts, designers, and small studios. The device is priced at $699 and utilizes MSLA technology, which cures liquid resin using ultraviolet light and a display screen.
The printer features a build volume of 200 x 125 x 235 millimeters and a pixel size of 35 microns. Most models can be completed within two hours. The unit includes an Open Material Mode, allowing users to utilize third-party resins instead of being restricted to the manufacturer's proprietary ecosystem.
The system supports automatic resin feeding and heating to streamline the printing process. Formlabs has also released six new Alpha Resin materials, starting at $29 per liter. When used with the optional VOC Extractor, the printer meets UL GREENGUARD Gold standards for low chemical emissions.
To complement the printer, Formlabs offers the Form Studio Wash+Cure device for $199. This optional hardware is designed to handle post-processing tasks, including cleaning and curing resin models, completing the workflow from initial print to final product.
