A group of software engineers, who were laid off due to an AI-driven corporate transformation, has developed an open-source system called OpenExecutive. The project is designed to simulate the functions of a CEO and other top-level management roles, including operations, strategy, legal, and communications officers.

The system operates by utilizing a lead AI agent supported by a team of eight specialized agents. It processes company documentation, tracks historical decisions, and suggests future actions. By default, the platform runs on Anthropic's Claude models and functions as an interactive group chat for executive-level decision-making support.

Released under the Apache 2.0 license, the software is available for public study, modification, and commercial use. The creators describe the project as both a functional tool and a satirical commentary on the current corporate trend of replacing human labor with automated systems.

While the AI can generate recommendations such as office closures or staff reductions, it serves strictly as an advisor. The developers emphasize that the system lacks legal authority, as human oversight remains necessary for final decision-making and accountability regarding the consequences of those actions.
