At the Money20/20 USA conference held in Las Vegas from October 18 to 21, 2026, representatives from Fireblocks, Interac, and TD Bank discussed the complexities of tokenization. The panel concluded that while various token formats address specific challenges, they often introduce new technical and operational hurdles.
The discussion highlighted three primary areas of token application: payments, identity management, and asset management. Participants identified privacy risks, difficulties with recurring subscription payments, and interoperability issues as the main complications currently facing the industry.
Fireblocks, which provides infrastructure for tokenization and stablecoin operations, noted that it currently supports over 2,500 institutions. The firm has processed trillions in transaction volume, with stablecoins representing an increasing portion of its activity.
Looking ahead, Fireblocks announced plans to expand its service offerings. The company intends to integrate support for Cardano Native Tokens into its infrastructure by March 2027.
