Ferring Pharmaceuticals has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the biotech company Gameto. The transaction is valued at up to $1.3825 billion, with the final price contingent upon the achievement of specific development, regulatory, and commercial milestones.

Gameto, co-founded by Dr. Dina Radenkovic Turner and Martin Varsavsky, specializes in cell engineering for women's reproductive health. To date, the company has secured $127 million in total equity funding. Its most recent capital raise was a $44 million Series C round in August 2025.

The company's primary asset, Fertilo, is an investigational program designed to enhance egg maturation for IVF. While it is currently utilized in clinics across Australia and Latin America, it has not yet received FDA approval in the United States. A Phase 3 clinical trial is ongoing, with preliminary results anticipated in late 2026.

In addition to its fertility work, Gameto is developing menopause therapies under its Ameno program, which has received financial support from ARPA-H. Until the acquisition closes, both companies will continue to operate as independent entities.
