The Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) platform now hosts more than 850,000 data series. Governor Christopher J. Waller announced this milestone during the FRED Con 2026 conference, which took place on October 1, 2026, in St. Louis.
The platform plans to integrate additional artificial intelligence tools to enhance data discovery and accessibility for users. These tools aim to simplify the process of navigating the extensive library of economic data sourced from agencies like the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the Census Bureau.
The conference featured discussions on the role of generative AI in economic analysis, alongside sessions focused on data accuracy and transparency. Speakers from organizations including Amazon, FedEx, and The Economist participated in the event to address the challenges of maintaining reliable data standards.
