A 71-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a Tesla vehicle on Interstate 80 in Vallejo, California. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 AM on Thursday. According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle was operating in Full Self-Driving mode at the time of the collision.

Dashcam footage reviewed by authorities indicates that the Tesla attempted to avoid the pedestrian by steering left and applying the brakes. Despite these maneuvers, the right front side of the car hit the man. Officials believe at least one other vehicle subsequently struck the victim, though no other drivers remained at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol is currently seeking witnesses or individuals with information regarding the crash. This event follows a separate incident on the same highway last week, where a driver reported using the FSD system while asleep before colliding with a stationary police vehicle.

Following these events, the California Highway Patrol issued a reminder to motorists. The agency emphasized that Full Self-Driving technology does not provide full autonomy and does not exempt drivers from their legal responsibility to operate vehicles safely.
