The developer created EvertySSH, a custom SSH client built with Rust and the proprietary EvertyUI framework. The project aims to streamline server management by integrating session history, command snippets, and a terminal emulator into a single application.
EvertyUI serves as a cross-platform interface layer for multiple applications, handling input, layout, and rendering via winit and softbuffer. It utilizes cosmic-text for text processing and resvg for vector graphics, ensuring a modular architecture that separates UI logic from SSH functionality.
The client features a tabbed interface with split-screen support and manages SSH connections using the russh library and Tokio for asynchronous tasks. Connection timeouts are set to seven seconds for server access and five seconds for shell initialization.
Data management is handled via SQLite for command history and TOML for server configurations. The terminal emulator uses the vte crate to handle ANSI escape sequences, supporting features like alternative buffers for full-screen applications.
Current security limitations include the lack of known_hosts verification for server keys, which the developer intends to address. Future updates will focus on implementing host key validation, secure credential storage, and master password protection.
