Enterprises are transitioning from planning to executing the migration of their cryptographic infrastructure to quantum-resistant standards. DigiCert CEO Amit Sinha describes this as a foundational upgrade for internet security, comparable in scale to a major architectural project.
The primary challenge for organizations is the vast scope of the migration, which impacts all cryptographic assets. DigiCert advises teams to prioritize critical applications and establish a sufficient inventory of software and hardware assets to manage the transition effectively.
DigiCert introduced the Quantum Central platform in July to assist companies with risk assessment and cryptographic posture management. This tool helps organizations identify and secure their most vital digital assets as they prepare for upcoming security shifts.
The industry faces a critical deadline in 2029 for both post-quantum cryptography migration and compliance with new certificate automation mandates. Experts emphasize that modernizing public key infrastructure and adopting crypto-agility are essential steps that must begin immediately.
