Dongfeng showcased three new fuel cell vehicles based on its T1 platform at the IAA Transportation trade fair in Germany. The lineup includes the DONGFENG-1 long-haul tractor, the DONGFENG-2 tractor, and the DONGFENG-3 refrigerated truck. These models utilize the company's proprietary hydrogen technology, which is currently powering approximately 10,000 vehicles in China.

The flagship 400-kW Hydrogen Core fuel cell system features a gravimetric power density of 1,350 W/kg and an efficiency of 58 percent. According to the manufacturer, the system has a service life of 33,000 hours and passed a 10,000-hour durability test. The platform supports a 49-tonne tractor weighing 8.8 tonnes, which consumes 7 kg of hydrogen per 100 kilometers.

The company claims its vehicles can achieve a range of 1,700 kilometers with a 15-minute refueling time. Dongfeng also offers fuel cell stacks with outputs of 120 kW and 150 kW for various commercial applications, including buses and light trucks. The 150-kW system is designed to balance acquisition costs with operational efficiency.

Dongfeng is currently seeking global partners to expand its presence and share its industrial-scale production capacity. While the vehicles are not yet launching in Europe, the company aims to demonstrate its technical expertise and establish international industry standards for hydrogen-powered commercial transport.
