The German Federal Association for Freight Transport, Logistics and Disposal (BGL) is partnering with the startup Depotcharge to build a nationwide charging network for electric trucks. The initiative allows logistics companies to open their depot charging points to other fleets, with operators retaining control over pricing, access rules, and availability.

Depotcharge manages the technical aspects, including billing, payment processing, and access control. The platform is designed to be hardware-agnostic and compatible with various vehicle manufacturers. Currently, over 200 companies operating approximately 600 electric trucks have registered for the service.

The network is expanding through a partnership with the purchasing group E.L.V.I.S. AG, which plans to integrate its 250 partner companies across 350 locations. This model mirrors the ASTAG Charge project in Switzerland, where the association ASTAG has utilized the platform since May to facilitate infrastructure sharing among members.

Depotcharge aims to scale its network across the DACH region and Benelux countries within the next two years. To support this international growth and platform development, the company secured €2.7 million in a pre-seed funding round led by High-Tech Gründerfonds.

Additional investors in the round include xdeck Ventures, Kopa Ventures, Prequel Ventures, and several business angels. The funding will support the implementation of new features, such as reservation systems, open interfaces, and integration with existing transport management software.
