DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) announced its participation in the inaugural Airspeeder International Series, an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) racing competition. The team, known as the DeLorean Airspeeder Team, is scheduled to debut in November 2026 for the 2026–27 season.
The company will utilize the Mk3C aircraft, an eVTOL developed by the aerospace startup Alauda. While DMC mentioned the inclusion of pilots, the specific pilot lineup and aircraft design details are expected to be revealed closer to the start of the season.
DMC plans to collaborate with student engineering teams from institutions including the University of California, UC Berkeley, and Georgia Tech to develop custom eVTOL vehicles for the 2027–28 racing season.
This initiative is distinct from Delorean Aerospace, a separate startup founded in 2017 by Paul DeLorean, which is developing the DR-7 eVTOL prototype. The DR-7 is designed as a two-person electric vehicle with a 193-kilometer range.
