Dell Technologies has introduced new extensions for its AI Data Platform to support the development of agentic AI. The updates include the Unified Semantic Layer, Enterprise Knowledge Graph, and Knowledge Agents, all integrated into the Dell Data Orchestration Engine.
The company also updated its Data Processing Engine to accelerate data preparation for AI. This engine utilizes Nvidia’s cuDF library and runs on graphics processing units, aiming to reduce data movement through techniques like zero-copy access and memory-to-memory transfer.
Dell is integrating these processing capabilities with its storage portfolio, including PowerScale, ObjectScale, and the Lightning File System. PowerScale now supports up to 16,000 GPUs, while ObjectScale provides throughput of up to 40 gigabytes per second per node.
The new Knowledge Agents allow users to build specialized AI assistants with defined data access permissions and quality guardrails. These agents are model-agnostic and operate using context provided by the Unified Semantic Layer and the Enterprise Knowledge Graph.
