DeepSeek is preparing to release an official desktop client for its Harness (DSH) platform. Previously, the tool was only available as a web interface, which led the community to develop various third-party desktop versions. The official repository has now added a dedicated desktop branch, which is currently available for compilation from source code.

The upcoming official application will support macOS with Apple Silicon and Intel processors, as well as Windows x64 systems. Linux support is not planned at this stage. Once released, the installer will be available on the official download page. The client uses the custom dsh-app protocol instead of local ports, which the company claims improves data security.

The official version integrates the runtime and backend into a single package, simplifying maintenance compared to third-party solutions. Testing shows that the DeepSeek V4.1 Flash model performs best when used with the DSH minimal mode. Users also report higher cache hit rates, with some noting hit rates exceeding 95 percent during regular operation.

Discussions regarding the V4.1 Flash model focus on the 'Chain of Thought' settings. While the Max mode provides the highest reasoning capabilities for complex tasks, it consumes more time and tokens. For standard daily tasks, users recommend the High or Low modes, which offer faster response times and better efficiency for simpler interactions.
