DeepSeek AI has released a desktop preview version of its DeepSeek Harness agent runtime framework. The new software, identified as version V0.1.7-rc.2, is currently available for Windows x64 and macOS systems running on Apple Silicon processors.

The desktop application simplifies the deployment process for users. It eliminates the need to install Node.js, interact with terminal interfaces, or manually execute npx commands to run the framework, which was previously accessible only via a WebUI.

DeepSeek Harness, also known as dsh, is an open-source project introduced by DeepSeek AI in August 2026. Built with TypeScript and distributed under the MIT license, the framework is designed to manage agent operations through a modular architecture.

The core design philosophy of the framework is based on an Everything is a Plugin approach. All agent capabilities, including model integration, tool usage, session management, sandboxing, and UI components, are delivered through the Cordis plugin system.
