DeepSeek announced the launch of the DS V4.1 Flash model, which the company claims outperforms the DS V4 Pro in both capability and response speed. The developer initially planned to automatically route all existing DS V4 Pro requests to the new model, citing lower costs and improved performance.

However, this decision faced significant backlash from developers. Many users reported that their existing workflows, built specifically for the DS V4 Pro, were disrupted by the forced migration to the new model. Consequently, some developers expressed a preference for the older, more expensive version to maintain system stability.

In response to user feedback, DeepSeek has adjusted its timeline for retiring the DS V4 Pro. The original shutdown date of September 10 has been extended to September 14 at 12:00. After this deadline, the automatic routing to DS V4.1 Flash will proceed as planned.

The company advises developers who rely on the DS V4 Pro to use the remaining time to update or optimize their workflows. This transition is necessary to ensure compatibility with the DS V4.1 Flash model, as the company intends to phase out the older version entirely.
