CXMT has become the first company to supply LPDDR6 memory chips for mass-produced smartphones through a partnership with Xiaomi.
The company's engineering staff grew by 60.9% over a year, increasing from 4,655 to 7,491 R&D specialists by the end of June. R&D personnel now make up 33.42% of the total workforce, up from 30.42%.
CXMT's R&D team size is now 78% of SK hynix's, which had 9,651 R&D specialists at the end of last year. To reach the same level, CXMT needs to hire an additional 2,160 engineers.
Average annual salaries for these specialists in the first half of the year exceeded $62,000, a 34% increase year-over-year. If this trend continues, average annual pay could exceed $124,000 by year-end, which is 5.4 times higher than the average for large tech firms in China.
The company's financial growth supports this expansion. In the second quarter, DRAM revenue nearly doubled, helping CXMT secure fourth place globally among memory manufacturers with a 9.5% market share by value.
Next year, CXMT plans to recruit over 180 specialists with advanced degrees from China and abroad, including Japan. While hiring is active across chip production, software, and marketing, the primary focus remains on chip design.
