Developer QAQLeonard has released a custom firmware tool for the Sony A7C II camera, now available in version 3.0. This update introduces a graphical user interface, eliminating the need for command-line operations for installation, driver management, and verification processes.

The custom firmware unlocks specific film simulation modes, including FL2 and FL3. Additionally, it enables the import of external LUTs, allowing users to apply color profiles similar to Fujifilm NC and Ricoh GR styles. The tool also adds support for custom creative looks, electronic shutter sounds, and vertical display orientation.

The tool is strictly limited to Sony A7C II (ILCE-7CM2) cameras running firmware version 2.01. It is incompatible with other models, such as the original A7C, A7 IV, A7CR, A7R V, A6700, or A7 V. Tutorials for the flashing process are available via third-party channels.

Users are cautioned that modifying camera firmware carries significant risks, including potential device bricking, boot loops, data loss, and hardware malfunctions. Furthermore, the modification may void official warranties, complicate future repairs, and interfere with the recognition of third-party batteries.
