The Crew-12 mission is scheduled to undock from the International Space Station on Oct. 7 at 12:05 UTC. The four-person crew, consisting of Jessica Meir, Jack Hathaway, Sophie Adenot, and Andrey Fedyaev, will spend approximately 27.5 hours in the Crew Dragon Freedom spacecraft before splashing down in the Pacific Ocean on Oct. 8 at 06:34 UTC.
The mission launched on Feb. 13 from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station using a Falcon 9 rocket. This flight marked the fifth mission for the Crew Dragon Freedom capsule. Upon its return, the spacecraft will have accumulated a total of 609 days and 11 hours in space. SpaceX recovery vessel Shannon will retrieve the crew and the vehicle off the coast of California.
During their eight-month stay, the crew participated in Expeditions 74 and 75, conducting hundreds of experiments and four spacewalks. Research activities included studies on cancer-targeting treatments, bone regeneration, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and the observation of ultracold atoms in the Cold Atomic Lab to create Bose-Einstein Condensates.
The departure of Crew-12 follows the arrival of the Crew-13 mission, which docked at the station on Oct. 1. Crew-13 has begun a six-month mission, while NASA and SpaceX are currently planning the next operational flight, Crew-14, with a projected launch date no earlier than March 2027.
