CME Group recorded its first block trade in Uniswap (UNI) futures on October 20, 2026. The transaction was executed by trading firms FalconX and GSR just one day after the contracts were launched on the exchange.
The new UNI futures product, announced on September 22, 2026, brings the total number of single-asset crypto futures contracts offered by CME to 11. These contracts are cash-settled and available in two sizes: a standard version covering 10,000 UNI and a micro version covering 1,000 UNI.
As of late October 2026, CME reported an average daily volume of over 242,000 crypto futures and options contracts, representing a notional value of $7.9 billion. Open interest in these products reached approximately 240,000 contracts, with a notional value of $14.3 billion.
The specific size of the initial block trade between FalconX and GSR remains undisclosed. Uniswap founder Hayden Adams noted that this transaction marks the first time a DeFi token has been processed through regulated traditional finance channels.
