The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) is set to launch its Tokenization Service in October 2026. The platform allows participants to create tokenized versions of securities held by its subsidiary, The Depository Trust Company (DTC).

The initial offering includes 25 tokenized securities, covering assets worth approximately $30 trillion, such as Russell 1000 equities, major ETFs, and US Treasuries. DTC will continue to act as the official record keeper for these assets.

The service operates on a permissioned, multi-chain architecture using the Canton Network and Hyperledger Besu. Tokens on Canton utilize the CIP-56 standard, while those on Besu use the ERC-20 format. Transfers are limited to peer-to-peer transactions within the same chain.

More than 30 firms, including BlackRock and JPMorgan, participated in testing the workflows as of July 2026. The project received regulatory approval from the SEC in December 2025 through a three-year No-Action Letter, which expires in late 2028.
