The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has initiated the revision of five mandatory national standards, including requirements for automotive data security. These updates aim to establish clearer technical regulations for vehicle lighting and intelligent driving systems.

The new standards prohibit vehicle lights from displaying text, with the exception of illuminated logos. To prevent safety risks caused by color mixing, the regulations mandate that turn signals must not be combined with brake or rear fog lights, and reversing lights must remain separate from brake and rear fog lights.

A significant addition to the standards is the introduction of a specific blue-green color requirement for ADS indicator lights. According to the new rules, the installation of these blue lights is restricted exclusively to vehicles equipped with Level 3 or higher autonomous driving systems.

Deng Chenghao, Chairman of Deepal Automobile, publicly supported the new national standards. He stated that these regulations are essential for eliminating superficial innovations and short-term industry trends that compromise vehicle safety.

Deng emphasized that the industry benefits from clear rules, which help create a healthy market environment. He noted that prioritizing fundamental safety over gimmicks allows companies focused on genuine technological development to succeed in the long term.
