According to the China Electricity Council, China's electrification rate has surpassed 29%. By 2025, this figure reached approximately 29.5%, marking a 1.4 percentage point increase compared to the previous year. Since 2015, China has contributed over 80% to the global growth of the electrification rate.
Regional data shows varying levels of electrification: the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region reached about 23.0%, the Yangtze River Delta 34.6%, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area 41.1%, and the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle 30.2%. All provinces across the country recorded positive growth in these metrics.
The share of electricity in terminal energy consumption currently exceeds that of coal by 3.1 percentage points. This shift indicates both strengthened power supply capabilities and an accelerated transition toward green and low-carbon energy sources within the nation.
Looking ahead, the China Electricity Council projects that the national electrification rate will reach 35% by 2030. This growth is expected to be driven by steady progress in the industrial and agricultural sectors, alongside accelerated electrification in the construction and transportation industries.
