The National Information Security Standardization Technical Committee of China has released three new practice guidelines for cybersecurity. These documents aim to support the mandatory national standard GB 46864-2025 regarding data security and information erasure in electronic products.

The guidelines were developed by over 30 organizations, including major manufacturers like Huawei, Xiaomi, Honor, OPPO, vivo, and Samsung. The standards cover semiconductor storage media block erasure, information erasure management during recycling, and technical requirements for mobile terminals.

The semiconductor storage guideline defines methods for SSDs, UFS, eMMC, and RawFlash, providing standardized commands for block erasure. The recycling guideline introduces a unified log format and physical labels for cleared devices to ensure traceability and user data protection.

For mobile devices, the guidelines mandate specific erasure procedures. Magnetic media requires at least three overwrites, including one random pass. Semiconductor media allows either overwriting or block erasure, with requirements for detailed execution logs including start and end times.
