At the Sibos 2026 conference held in Miami Beach from September 28 to October 1, Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov discussed the role of tokenized cash and AI agents in financial systems. He participated in sessions alongside representatives from Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, Microsoft, and J.P. Morgan.
Nazarov noted that banks are shifting from experimentation to building their own tokenized deposit chains. He identified tokenized deposits, stablecoins, and CBDCs as key assets for financial institutions seeking speed and interoperability. AI agents are expected to favor these formats to improve transaction efficiency.
The protocol reported facilitating over $34 trillion in on-chain transaction value. Chainlink emphasizes its role in connecting fragmented chains and existing payment systems, while maintaining compliance with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 standards for real-world assets.
According to Nazarov, the focus of industry discussions has moved from innovation teams to business line owners and technology teams. Additionally, the GENIUS Act regarding US dollar-pegged stablecoins was highlighted as a factor supporting institutional adoption.
