The Internet Mint Finder (IMF) project, announced on October 27, 2026, aims to create a directory for Cashu ecash mints. Developed by a team led by the pseudonymous physicist Calle, the tool will aggregate mint announcements and user reviews published on the Nostr network.

The directory relies on the NIP-87 specification, which establishes standardized event types for the Nostr protocol. Specifically, kind 38172 is designated for mint announcements, while kind 38000 is used for user feedback. This allows any compatible application to retrieve and display consistent data.

The project enters an existing market segment. As of October 5, 2026, the platform Cashumints.space tracked 63 mints, with 34 currently online and 962 reviews logged. Additionally, the cashu.me web wallet has integrated features for mint discovery and ratings using Nostr data.

The development team has not yet announced a launch timeline for the IMF or specified how it will differentiate itself from current tools. Cashu operates as an open-source protocol for Bitcoin without a native token, and the IMF initiative does not involve any traded assets.
