The Cardano Foundation has announced that 100 000 agricultural land parcels in India have been registered on the Cardano blockchain as of October 21, 2026. The project provides farms with tamper-resistant digital identities, incorporating satellite-verified data, crop history, and sustainability records.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Syngenta Foundation India and the Agri-Entrepreneur Growth Foundation, with technical support from AIQUANT, Anastasia Labs, and Andamio. Operations are currently focused on districts in Maharashtra, such as Achalpur and Anjangaon Surji.

Registration began with a pilot phase in April and May 2026, covering between 7 965 and 10 500 farms. By June 2026, the total exceeded 15 000, with daily registration rates reaching 500 units during the expansion. The infrastructure is designed to scale to one million registrations.

The project aims to provide lenders, insurers, and traders with verified data to facilitate access to financial services for smallholder farmers. Future expansion plans include deeper integration with the agricultural ecosystem through potential partnerships with the World Bank and the IFC.
