Canton Network, developed by Digital Asset, is expanding its focus beyond US Treasuries to include European and Asian government debt. The platform is currently exploring the tokenization of UK Gilts, EuroGovs, and Japanese Government Bonds (JGBs).

The network launched tokenized US Treasuries for repo transactions in August 2026. Additionally, it is working with banks to issue deposit tokens, which represent commercial bank deposits on the blockchain to facilitate atomic settlement for trades.

Pilot projects for JGBs as digital collateral began in Japan in April 2026, involving institutions such as MUFG, Mizuho, and Nomura. Previous tests in early 2026 included cross-border repo transactions using tokenized UK Gilts on the LSEG platform.

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) plans to launch a tokenization service on Canton in the fourth quarter of 2026, targeting an initial group of 25 securities. Platforms connected to Canton have historically managed over 50% of global digital bond issuances.
