Canon plans to increase product prices starting in 2027 to offset rising costs for memory and other components. The company does not anticipate a decrease in procurement expenses throughout the upcoming year.
During a quarterly earnings Q&A session, Canon acknowledged supply shortages in its printing and imaging divisions. While proactive measures mitigated immediate impacts, the company expects persistent cost pressures.
The imaging division faces a projected decline in operating profitability for the fourth quarter compared to the previous year. Factors include higher component costs, geopolitical instability in the Middle East, and a high base effect from strong network camera sales last year.
Canon has already adjusted prices but has yet to fully offset rising expenditures. The company intends to balance sales volume with profitability when implementing future price hikes, though specific models and regions remain undisclosed.
Supply chain constraints have forced Canon to lower its sales targets for compact cameras. The company views this as a temporary issue and expects the situation to improve gradually over time.
