Samsung Electronics is set to overhaul the naming convention for its high-end television lineup starting next year. The company will move away from complex technical branding such as Micro RGB, OLED, and Neo QLED, replacing them with a simplified three-tier system consisting of Ultra, Plus, and Basic labels.
The new classification aims to provide a clearer value hierarchy for consumers, mirroring the branding strategy currently used for the Galaxy S smartphone series. Industry insiders suggest that the upcoming television lineup will be categorized into AI TV Basic, Plus, and Ultra models.
As part of this strategic shift, Samsung plans to discontinue the mass production of QD quantum dot televisions from next year. The company intends to streamline its product structure by focusing on backlight-based technologies, specifically transitioning its high-end offerings to Mini LED and Micro LED solutions.
The company also intends to phase out its entry-level Crystal UHD LCD television series. By consolidating its product range, Samsung aims to simplify its market positioning and align its television branding with its mobile device ecosystem.
