ByteDance is preparing to launch a standalone intelligent cloud storage service named ADrive this September. Developed by Volcano Engine, the platform is designed for enterprise-level collaboration between AI agents and human users, focusing on unified file management and team workflows.
The service includes standard document management features such as batch uploads, multi-format previews, real-time collaborative editing, and version history tracking. It also supports online decompression of common formats like ZIP, RAR, and 7z, alongside global natural language search and image-based retrieval.
ADrive integrates AI-driven processing tools, including document summarization, content refinement, multi-language translation, and cross-document reasoning. Users can also perform file conversions, OCR text recognition, and image editing directly within the platform without external tools.
Security features include password-protected sharing, expiration settings, and granular access control for internal and external users, supported by comprehensive audit logs. The service will follow a subscription-based billing model with various tiers tailored to different business sizes.
The market for AI-integrated storage is expanding, as evidenced by Tencent's launch of its own cloud drive service in June. Tencent's platform similarly emphasizes connecting multiple AI applications to aggregate data and build long-term memory assets for enterprise ecosystems.
