BYD has released design sketches for the second-generation Seagull, revealing a redesigned exterior with trident-style headlights, a floating roof, and a rising beltline. The new model features a 5-seat layout and is 425 mm longer than its predecessor, with a wheelbase extended by 150 mm.

According to MIIT filings, the vehicle measures 4,205 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase. It will be powered by a permanent magnet motor delivering 95 kW, a significant increase from the 55 kW output of the previous generation.

The second-generation Seagull will be equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries and offer optional LiDAR and radar systems for driver assistance. While BYD has confirmed the vehicle will launch this year, the company has not yet disclosed specific pricing or a precise release date.

The current Seagull model remains a core product for BYD's Ocean lineup, with cumulative sales exceeding 1.5 million units since its April 2023 launch. In August 2026, the company sold 36,106 units, marking a 5.56% year-on-year increase, though cumulative sales for the first 8 months of 2026 fell by 37.50%.
