BYD is preparing to launch the second-generation Seagull, an upgraded version of its entry-level electric vehicle. The new model, dubbed the Great Seagull, will feature a larger frame and premium interior additions. The vehicle is expected to go on sale by the end of 2026.

The new Seagull measures 4,205 mm in length and has a 2,650 mm wheelbase, making it 425 mm longer than the current version. The updated model will be equipped with a 95 kW electric motor, a significant increase from the previous 55 kW unit. Production will shift to a rear-mounted motor configuration.

Interior upgrades include a larger infotainment screen, ambient lighting, and power-adjustable front seats with massage functions. The vehicle will also feature a 94L front trunk and a total cargo capacity of up to 1,380L. Some variants may include LiDAR for advanced driver assistance systems.

The current Seagull, sold globally as the Dolphin Surf or Dolphin Mini, is one of the world's best-selling EVs, with over 152,000 units sold in the first half of 2026. While the current model starts at ¥69,900 in China, the new version is expected to reach international markets following its domestic launch.
