BYD is accelerating its European manufacturing strategy, with the company's executive vice president Stella Li confirming that the Hungarian facility is set to begin mass production in the fourth quarter of this year.

The company is actively scouting locations for additional production sites. France has officially been added to the shortlist for potential future factories, joining Spain as a primary candidate for the expansion.

According to reports from Bloomberg, the long-term roadmap for the automaker includes establishing four facilities across Europe. This plan encompasses three vehicle assembly plants and one dedicated electric vehicle battery factory.

The expansion strategy follows comments from Alfredo Altavilla, a special advisor for the European market, who noted a preference for brownfield sites. The company aims to repurpose existing infrastructure to scale operations quickly.

BYD is prioritizing local production to align with evolving European Union manufacturing regulations. While the company is evaluating various regions, Altavilla has expressed reservations regarding the competitiveness of a potential manufacturing base in Germany.
