BYD unveiled its new heavy-duty electric tractor, the ETT 44, at the IAA Transportation 2026 event in Hannover. The vehicle features a 651 kWh Blade Battery on an 851V architecture and offers a range of up to 600 km. It is designed for combinations weighing up to 44 tonnes and provides a rated power of 743 PS with a peak of 1,000 PS.

The truck supports 1.5-megawatt charging, which allows the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes. Using a standard CCS2 DC charger, the vehicle pulls up to 420 kW, requiring about an hour for the same charge level. BYD provides a 10-year or 1.2-million-kilometer warranty for the battery system.

Beyond the ETT 44, the company expanded its commercial portfolio to include rigid 4×2 and 6×2 trucks, the E-Vali light commercial van, and the EYT 2.0 yard tractor. These vehicles cover a weight range from 3.5 to 44 tonnes. The lineup is equipped with standard safety features, including adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

BYD is promoting a Total Cost of Mobility model that bundles vehicles with its proprietary batteries, megawatt chargers, energy storage, and financing services. The company currently operates in over 100 countries and 400 cities. It has already deployed 10,000 units of its 1,500 kW chargers in five months and plans to install 15,000 units across China.
