BYD executive vice president Stella Li announced that the company plans to introduce solid-state batteries as early as next year. This development is part of the company's broader strategy to shift focus away from internal combustion engine vehicles.
During an interview with carwow.es, Li stated that fuel-powered cars have no future in China, citing the rapid advancement of BYD's fast-charging technology. She noted that while global markets may lag behind in this transition, the eventual outcome will be the same.
In Brazil, the BYD Dolphin Surf model currently accounts for nearly 50% of the company's total sales in the region. Many buyers are ride-hailing and taxi drivers who use the vehicle for commercial purposes.
Li highlighted that drivers using the Dolphin Surf have doubled their monthly income compared to those using traditional vehicles. This increase is attributed to charging costs, which are only 20% of the price of fuel, allowing drivers to save more as they increase their mileage.
