A video from Jinshan Town, Lianyungang, shows a BYD Fangchengbao Bao 8 driving on three wheels. The driver lifted the front left wheel to bypass a parking boot attached to the vehicle.
The Bao 8 is equipped with the DiSus-P Ultra suspension system, which features dual-valve dampers. This technology allows the vehicle to lift a single wheel off the ground without using a jack.
BYD designed this system to assist with tire changes and to help navigate off-road obstacles. The suspension can provide over 19,000 pounds of lifting force and hold a wheel in the air for up to 24 hours.
The suspension functionality is limited to speeds of up to 9.3 mph, or 15 km/h. While intended for trail use or maintenance, the system allows the vehicle to move while a wheel is retracted.
