BYD announced plans to deploy 3,000 ultra-fast charging stations across Europe by the end of 2027. The company intends to install the first 100 stations by the end of 2026. Currently, such facilities are already operational in Germany and the United Kingdom.
The charging stations feature a power output of up to 1,500 kW per connector. When paired with the second-generation Blade battery, vehicles can charge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes, and up to 97% in 9 minutes. Currently, the Denza Z9 GT station wagon is the only compatible model in Europe.
The company plans to expand its lineup of compatible vehicles, with the Atto 8 crossover already confirmed for the European market. Globally, BYD operates 12,165 ultra-fast stations in China and aims to reach 20,000 total locations by the end of 2026.
The manufacturer intends to construct 6,000 charging stations outside of China in 2027, with Europe accounting for half of this international expansion. This infrastructure growth is intended to support the rollout of new electric vehicle models capable of utilizing the 1,500 kW charging capacity.
