VibeMarket is a platform for open-source applications that functions as a catalog with download buttons. The project operates without a dedicated server, database, or moderation team, utilizing GitHub infrastructure for its backend operations.
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, while GitHub Issues serve as an application submission form. A script written in Node.js, executed via GitHub Actions, updates the catalog hourly by processing submissions, counting votes, and managing file links.
The frontend consists of a single index.html file without frameworks or build tools. The catalog data is stored in a JSON file, which acts as a database with a full version history accessible via git log. Changes can be reverted using standard git commands.
The system automatically detects the user's operating system and architecture to provide the correct installer. It handles complex release structures, such as monorepos and specific build versions, by applying custom filtering rules to GitHub API data.
The entire process consumes 11 API requests per hourly cycle. The resulting catalog file is 131 KB, or 21 KB when compressed with gzip, ensuring efficient performance without external dependencies.
