Users can configure an AI-based language tutor using Claude Code, an agent developed by Anthropic. The setup process takes approximately five minutes and requires a Claude subscription. The system functions through a repository of instruction files that guide the AI in teaching languages including English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Serbian, Turkish, Estonian, Polish, Latvian, and Czech.
The tutor operates via terminal commands such as /setup to define language and proficiency levels, /plan-lessons to generate a curriculum of 15–25 lessons, and /lesson to initiate study sessions. Each lesson typically covers one grammatical topic and includes 8–12 new vocabulary words. The AI tracks user progress, identifies recurring errors, and provides targeted exercises based on past performance.
Integration with the Vibeling mobile application allows users to save vocabulary words directly from the lesson to their phone. This feature requires a PRO subscription for the application. The integration uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to sync words with translations, examples, and images, enabling users to practice via spaced repetition methods.
The system relies on specific configuration files, such as CLAUDE.md, which define the AI's behavior, and progress.md, which stores user data and error history. Users can customize the learning parameters, such as the number of exercises per lesson or the language of instruction, by modifying these text files or requesting changes directly from the AI agent.
