New York-based healthcare startup Brellium has secured $23 million in a new venture funding round. The investment was led by Left Lane Capital and First Round Capital, with participation from Digital Health Venture Partners. The company previously raised $16.7 million in a Series A round in April 2025.

The startup launched CortexLM, an AI system designed to review patient records for documentation errors and compliance risks before claims are submitted to insurers. The software automatically checks clinical notes against regulatory and insurance requirements to identify missing information or incorrect billing codes.

Brellium reports that its platform has audited over 22 million patient visits to date, protecting nearly $2 billion in provider revenue from potential repayment demands. The company currently serves more than 215 000 healthcare providers across 200 groups in all 50 US states.

The company plans to use the new capital to expand its reach and scale its technology into new medical specialties, including cardiology, pain management, and primary care. Its client list includes organizations such as Gentiva, Maxim Healthcare, Rula, and Headspace.

Brellium offers a guarantee to cover repayment costs if an insurer or the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services identifies a qualifying problem in a record that the software previously cleared. This approach aims to replace traditional manual sampling methods with full-scale automated reviews.
