The DuneRover is a motorized wagon currently available as a Kickstarter project. The device features two brushless geared motors, each delivering up to 400W of output and 33Nm of torque. It is operated via a trigger on the handle, which adjusts speed based on the user's walking pace. The wagon supports a dynamic load capacity of up to 198 pounds (90 kg) and a static load capacity of 330 pounds (150 kg).
Equipped with an 88.8Wh removable battery, the unit functions as a 100W USB-C power bank and supports charging via a 100W solar panel. The wagon includes LED lighting and can be configured by unzipping its sides to accommodate oversized items. It weighs 59.5 pounds (27 kg) and features 10-inch front and 12-inch rear wheels, with production models expected to offer IPX6 water resistance.
Early-bird pricing for the DuneRover is set at $467, representing a 48 percent discount from the planned retail price of $899. Shipping for production units is scheduled for February 2027. The device is designed to handle various terrains, including steep inclines and soft sand, though performance in sand is optimized for lighter loads.
During testing, the prototype covered 6 kilometers (3.73 miles) on varied surfaces, including asphalt, gravel, and sand, while retaining 74 percent of its battery charge. The wagon is capable of speeds up to 3.7 mph (6 km/h). While the prototype exhibited some issues with rolling resistance and motor responsiveness on slopes, the manufacturer claims these will be addressed in production units.
